Oberflex uses more than 60 different wood species. Wood logs are sliced into 0,6mm thick veneer layons or leaves. Those layons are gathered in flitches of 24. Each flitch is numbered according to its position in the log.The aesthetic aspect of the veneer (straight grain of flowered) depends on the slicing method used (quarter cut or flatcut).

At reception, flitches are inspected one by one by hand to discard leaves or part of leaves that could present aesthetic flaws or non aesthetic specificities

Veneers flitches are gathered according to their caracteristics (grain, structure, color…)

Flitches are then spread out on a table and carefully placed side by side to harmonize the assembly of the veneer. This defines the future aspect of the Oberflex sheet.

At this step, the process enhances the beauty and specificity of the raw material, wood, and prepares the aesthetic consistency of the final product.

Wood veneer grading requires good judgment, anticipation and a perfect knowledge of the products.
The employees is charge of veneer sorting are key to insure that once installed on a jobsite, the panels will be true to the customers aesthetic requirements
